Kareena dumps Saif Ali Khan for Aamir

Kareena Kapoor has decided to celebrate her birthday with Aamir Khan on September 29 instead of beau Saif Ali Khan. No, their relationship isn't on the rocks but Kareena has decided to shoot for Raj Kumar Hirani's 3 Idiots along with Aamir on her 29th birthday. Kareena had originally planned to celebrate the day with Saif, her mother Babita and sister Karisma Kapoor.

Kareena and Aamir will be shooting a dance sequence for the movie which is running behind schedule. The movie went behind schedule after Aamir's wife Kiran suffered a miscarriage and Aamir wanted to spend time with her so that she could recuperate from the loss. This delay meant that the movie has to now be shot during Kareena's birthday.

Aamir hesitantly called up Kareena to check if she could accommodate a delay and reorganise her dates. The generous girl that Kareena is she instantly agreed to shoot on her birthday leaving aside all other plans. Who says actresses do not have hearts, Kareena has just proved the opposite. As for Saif he will have to find something else to keep himself busy on that day.

Kareena is very special to Abhishek

A lot has been said and written between the soured relationship between the Kapoors and the Bachchans. The two families haven't been in the best of terms after the Bachchan's broke Abhishek's engagement Karisma in 2003. Karisma later got married to she married to industrialist Sanjay Kapur while Abhishek tied the knot with Aishwarya. But the two families never got on well together since that incident

But now Abhishek Bachchan [^] has come out in open and praised Kareena Kapoor along with whom he had made his debut in JP Dutta's Refugee. In a recent interview Abhishek said that Kareena will also be a special actress for him since they made their start in Bollywood together. He also said that she was a sweet girl and one of the finest actress in the present circuit.

On being quizzed about working with Kareena, Abhishek excitedly replied that he would love to work with her again although there was a rumour that the two were against the idea of starring opposite each other. There is buzz around the industry that Abhishek and Kareena might star together Randhir Kapoor's upcoming movie.

SAIF TO SELDOM WORK WITH KAREENA

Saif Ali Khan isn't as simple as he looks like. This is evident from the very fact that Chhote Nawab opted to play opposite a young and pretty Deepika Padukone in his home production 'Love Aaj Kal', and not with her ladylove Kareena Kapoor. Besides, it is learnt that he often pushes filmmakers into casting his ladylove Kareena in their movies. It's for nothing that the actor faced flak from co-star Deepika for promoting his girlfriend Bebo during the promotion of 'Love Aaj Kal' though Bebo claims otherwise. Anyway, Saif has now decided to set the record straight.

He only wants to work with his lady 'once in a while'! He explains, "I mean there is so much Saif-Kareena going on even off-screen that no good director will be least interested in casting us." Note it carefully. In the same breath, he justifies casting of Kareena in his next production venture 'Agent Vinod' by stating that this decision rested solely on credentials and his heart had nothing to do with it. Saif has also refuted the report that he would act in 'Race 2' with Kareena Kapoor.

Kareena Missed Saif’s Love Aaj Kal Premier

Love Aaj Kal had a grand premier but Kareena Kapoor gave a miss it what was the most important day in her beau’s life. The reason, well Kareena was too tired to attend the premier and preferred lounging in a spa at Hotel Leela Kempinski in Gurgaon. Saif and Deepika Padukone walked down the red carpet together with Saif having and sizzling Deepika in his arms.

Kareena’s name had always been linked to the movie with Saif admitting to that fact that he wanted Kareena in his first home production. Director Imtiaz Ali was adamant on having Deepika and had it his way. Deepika Padukone wasn’t happy Kareena’s name being talked about more than hers and this led to a cold war between the two.

Kareena Kapoor might have skipped that premier as she did not want to see Deepika playing a character which could have so easily been hers. Or she might not have felt comfortable seeing Saif and Deepika walk hand in hand. Whatever be the reasons Bebo it was the most important day in Saif’s career and fatigue was no excuse to skip the premier!

Kareena is grateful to Katrina

Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif seems to have doused the flames between them and have become friends again. Recently Katrina had flattered Kareena by appreciating her professionalism. Katrina had commented that she she was nowhere close to Kareena as a performer. Not to be left behind Kareena has acknowledged Katrina comments with some kind words.

In a recent interaction with the media Kareena said that she was grateful and thankful to Katrina for showering praises upon her. The two stars who are fighting for the numero uno status in the industry for quite sometime now weren't too fond of each other due to their professional rivalry. Can you name the most-kissed couple in Bollywood? No prizes for guessing! Lovebirds Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are on a kissing spree of late, and that too with other actors.

Yes, Saif-Kareena have kissed 15 times in just two films. Just on the heels of Kareena kissing Akshay Kumar 10 times in their recently released film Kambakkht Ishq, Saif is said to have kissed Deepika Padukone five times in their film Love Aaj Kal which is set for release tomorrow.

Kareena defended her kisses, saying that the script demanded it. Nobody complaint following the good opening the film witnessed. Now, the question is whether Saif's kisses will pull in the crowds to the theatres.

Saif follows in Bebo’s steps!

This may sound too preposterous but don’t be surprised if Saif Ali Khan’s Love Aaj Kal takes as huge an initial as Kareena Kapoor’s Kambakkht Ishq did a few weeks back. The trade is extra upbeat about Saif’s maiden production as there is huge demand for the film. Reveals a trade insider, “Eros, the co-producer of Kambakkht Ishq and Love Aaj Kal, doesn’t need to despair looking at the falling collections of Kambakkht Ishq because their upcoming film Love Aaj Kal just might shake the box-office. The craze for the love story, directed by Imtiaz Ali, is growing with each passing day, thanks to its catchy promos and catchier (read super hit) music by Pritam. By the time the film is released on 31st July, the public will hopefully be in the grip of Love Aaj Kal fever. In the big cities at least, it shouldn’t be a surprise if Saif’s maiden home production, co-starring Deepika Padukone, took a cent percent opening. Yes, yes, Saif is not known to big opening initially, because rarely has any of his solo starrers taken a flying start. But then, there’s a first time for everything. Love Aaj Kal just could be that first solo starrer of Saif to take a bumper opening.

With Kambakkht Ishq and New York earning big bucks at the box office, the race for Bollywood's top slot has just got hotter. But instead of making sarcastic jibes, tinsel town's leading ladies seem to have formed a mutual admiration society.

In a recent interview Katrina Kaif said she was 'nowhere near Kareena Kapoor as a performer'. Katrina's act of diplomacy seems to have gone down very well with Miss Kapoor.

The usually frank Bebo who has in the past rubbed many actresses the wrong way, acknowledged all the flattery from Katrina.

On Monday afternoon Kareena spoke at the launch of a new line of diamond jewellery in the Mumbai.

Incidentally Katrina Kaif also endorses another line designed by the same company. When asked about Katrina she said, "I am very grateful and thankful to Katrina for all the nice things she has said about me". Bebo said she was in no way envious of Katrina and the host of endorsements in her kitty.

Now we are not sure what has sparked off this newfound admiration between the two beauties. But if the two decide to do a film together, the Kareena-Katrina combo can certainly set the box office on fire.

Celebrities just can't hide anything especially if it's a ring, as they are under constant watch. Kareena Kapoor sparked engagement rumours by sporting a colossal solitaire ring in her finger. So, she is marrying boyfriend Saif Ali Khan?

Kareena dismissed the engagement rumours by saying that she is not that crazy to get married when her career is at the peak. She seems to have decided to concentrate on her acting career following the success of her latest film Kambakkht Ishq. She revealed that she would tie the knot after two years.


Well, it looks like Kareena is aware of her film prospect after marriage. Married actresses don't have much to do in Bollywood. Kareena Kapoor, a Fashion Diva?

Kareena Kapoor, the style icon of Bollywood, has a list of places to visit in search of good fashion. “I have to...I’ve no choice. I’m looked at as a fashion statement,” says Bebo.

Right now, Kareena has plans to visit fashion destinations like Milan, Paris, London and New York in search of world-class fashion to stock up her wardrobe. “It becomes tiring for everything I wear to be in the media glare. I constantly need to be well-dressed,” says the actress.

Her recent release Kambakkht Ishq saw her flaunting costumes and accessories from ace designers, right from Prada to Cavalli. Kareena entirely gives the credit to designer Aki Narula for her chic, uptown, very stylish look in KI. “He went shopping for my clothes and accessories. This may be a film, but I’ve never worked harder in terms of styling…”

She is again working with Aki in Qurbaan and is full of admiration for the designer who has given her a different, special look in the movie. If it’s Aki in ‘Qurbaan’, she is bonding again with friend-cum-designer, Manish Malhotra for 3 Idiots and the ‘Stepmom’ remake. In fact, for the Indian version of ‘Stepmom’, she plans to cut her hair and to get a new make over.

In ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ she wanted to look larger than life but is equally at ease playing the girl next door like in Jab We Met or Omkara. And she feels proud to be called “stylish”.

I Am a Big Fan of Kareena: Katrina Kaif

Not long after taking an apparent potshot at fellow actress Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif claimed to be a “big fan” of the ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ actress.

Katrina had recently said in an interview that she doesn’t need to wear a short skirt or show her legs to get audiences to go for her film.

Speculations have been rife that the comment was pointed at Kareena for her skimpy outfits in Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Kambakkht Ishq.’

However, Katrina has said that she a huge admirer of Kareena’s work and enjoyed her performance in the film.

Asked whether she had seen the film and liked it, Katrina said, “I saw the film at a private screening organized by Akshay. He is an entertainer and I have always been a big fan of Kareena Kapoor.”

Katrina is riding high on the success of her film ‘New York’ and the actress ecstatic over the accolades she received for her work in the film.

“’New York’ was a special film because of its amazing story. I am happy for the director Kabir Khan because he is one of the nicest persons I have met,” Katrina said on the sidelines of the launch of a new logo for ‘Nakshatra’ jewelery brand.

The actress who has wrapped up shooting for Priyadarshan’s next film ‘De Dana Dan’ co-starring Akshay Kumar said, “I have injured myself four times. My back and neck are hurting. Akshay said that we have given so much blood to the film that it will be a hit.” Katrina is now all set to join her family in London to celebrate her 25th birthday on July 16 but has no special plans for the day.

“It is after a long time that I will be united with my six sisters. I don’t know what we may do together on that day,” she said.

Katrina brushed off queries on whether beau Salman Khan will be with her on that day and how will she celebrate.

“This is not important to anyone. How does it matter,” she said.

Katrina’s birthday party in Mumbai last year saw Salman and Shah Rukh Khan’s infamous spat.

I get depressed when people try to pull me down: Kareena Kapoor

Kareena Kapoor admits she gets upset when uncharitable remarks are made about her or her performance. Though the actress doesn’t mind healthy criticism, she isn’t amused when comments are made without any provocation or reason.

“I have realised over a period of time that the higher you go, more and more people will try to pull you down. I used to hear about this from my sister (Karisma) but am experiencing this first hand now. It isn’t really funny actually,” Kareena told.

Kareena was obviously referring to a section of the media coming down heavily on her since the release of “Kambakkht Ishq”.

“Well, the movie has released, done well and it’s time to move on to newer things. Critics had things to say about the film and it’s okay if they didn’t like the film. In any case, audiences had their own take on the film and they made the film a success. It’s all balanced out at the end of the day,” she said.

Some critics did feel that the “Kambakkht Ishq” content was too abusive at places.

“That continues to beat me,” she said in an amused tone. “Come on, it was just a movie. We were not developing any rocket science there. However, I guess some people did take it all personally and equated ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ to World War III,” said Kareena.

She can’t be immune to criticism though, isn’t it?

“Yes, I do tend to get upset and depressed when people try to pull me down. Sometimes it just comes from nowhere and you end up feeling that what did you really do so wrong to be facing such criticism.

“But then I understand that there could be a phase in one’s life when you get attacked from all corners. It’s fine because I know it will pass,” said the actress who is looking forward to the release of “Qurbaan” before year-end.

She is happy though that she has a loyal set of friends, family members and supporters around her who help her keep her chin up.

“And then of course there is Saif,” she perked up. “He has been around for so long and keeps me happy and smiling. Yes, there are detractors, but then there are supporters as well. After seeing Bollywood business closely for so long, I try not to take things too seriously.”

Her “Tashan” didn’t do well at the box office, but Kareena has had impressive releases over the last few years like “Omkara”, “Jab We Met”, “Golmaal Returns” and now “Kambakkht Ishq” doing well at the box office. In between, she also had a special appearance in another box office winner “Don – The Chase Begins Again”.

“Yes, thankfully it has been a nice run. I’m now really looking forward to ‘Qurbaan’, ‘Main Aur Mrs. Khanna’ and ‘3 Idiots’.”

I've raised the bar for fashion: Kareena Kapoor

Having been effectually designated a style icon Kareena now intends to go off on a long shopping binge in various fashion capitals.

“I have to. I’ve no choice. I’m looked at as a fashion statement. Very tiring, but flattering. Dress designer Aki Narula has set imposible standards of fashion for me through my films. Now I’ve no choice but to live up to those standards. I’ve raised the bar for fashion.”

Then Kareena adds, “After Kambakkht Ishq in Qurbaan Aki has again made me look so special.”

Very shortly Kareena will be off for along global shopping expedition. “It becomes tiring for everything I wear to be in the media glare. I constantly need to be well dressed. It’s a price I’ve to pay, in more ways than one.

I don’t have a choice but to have my wardrobe filled with choices. Nowadays when I go abroad I find myself spending more time in the shops than holidaying.It’s a responsbiliy.

And I do need to be chic all the time. But my being a fashion icon also depends on my attitude and mood of the moment.”

Are there two Akkis in Kareena’s professional life now? Akshay and Aki Narula?

Has Kareena shifted loyalties from dress designer Manish Malhotra to Aki Narula?

“No. I love Aki’s work and plan to use his clothes very often. But Manish and I go back a long way. He dressed up my sister to stardom and then me. We’re not the kind of people who move on in our friendships. I’m back with Manish Malhotra in 3 Idiots and the remake of Stepmom.

I’ll be dressed up as a stylish young girl. I’m planning to cut my hair. I’m really proud to be called stylish. I like that. The clothes and designer depend on the character and film.

In Jab We Met I was simply dressed in salwar kameez. In my forthcoming films Qurbaan and 3 Idiots I am minimalist in my clothes. But KI was about beautiful surfaces and shallow people. I had to dress immaculately.

The standards for a heroine’s look and styling had to be raised. In terms of clothes, lopok hair and makeup we’ve done that in KI. The fact is, I wanted to look very different. I wanted to look larger than life.”

Kareena gives the credit for her Kambhakkt look to her designer Aki Narula. “He went shopping for my clothes and accessories. This may be a masala film. But I’ve never worked harder.

In terms of styling and body language even dance and drama I really worked hard. I wanted it to be a phataka kind of role. I wanted the audience to come out breathless.”

Kareena found it very hard to play the stuck up b…tch in KI. “I got to play someone very different in KI. Now when people see me in Qurbaan they’ll be shocked again.

If I can carry off Kohapuri chappals in Omkara I am equally at home in Jimmy Choos in KI. I’m equally proud of both kind of films. Madhuri did a Mityudand and a Choli ke peeche side by side. Look at the films actors like Madhuri, my sister Karisma, Saif and Akshay did in the 1990s. And look where they got!I guess I was lucky.”

HOT: Box office figures fudged?

The next time you come across a film promotion ad which says super hit, think twice. It doesn't take a hit film to put up ads because whether a film is a hit or not this is all part of a planned promotional campaign.

There may be ads that say a film has collected Rs 100 crore but does it really matter to the movie buffs?

"Sometimes producers publish super hit posters even before the film has released. It's clear that some producers play with the audience when their film is not working," filmmaker Supran Verma said.

DON'T MISS: The Kambakhht Ishq movie review

A case in point is the recent release Kambakhht Ishq. Considering the high profile star cast, a flamboyant producer and Sylvester Stallone as an added attraction, this film was expected to be a big hit at the box office but destiny had different plans for the film.

It has been over two weeks and the film is far from recovering its cost. It has reportedly made Rs 62 crore but the ads in the papers insist that the film has already collected Rs 100 crore. So the facts obviously differ.

In the past too there have been many filmmakers who have claimed a lot more than their films have collected. For a long time the producers of the biggest flop of 2009 Chandni Chowk to China claimed that the film is running to packed houses but even there the reality was something else.

Only later when the theatre owners started to pull out the film from the screens a week after its release that it was clear that Akshay Kumar was not able to draw the crowds this time.

The ads of last years biggest dud Love Story 2050 also said that the film at some point was running successfully. But this never happened. Even Yashraj studios claimed that their film Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic performed well at the box office but the film was a complete washout.

Though, we have reached the multiplex age, the Indian box office remains disorganised and some producers clearly take advantage and tamper with box office figures.

Saif blasts director wanting to expose Kareena

Saif Ali Khan has lashed out at a director who wants to expose his lady love Kareena Kapoor. This after there was news that Spectra Multimedia Films is producing a film tentatively titled The Secret Life of Karina based on the Kareena's breakup with Shahid and subsequent hookup with Saif Ali Khan. The characters in the movie were rumoured to be named Karina, Saifee and Shaheed.

Saif said it tasteless thing to do was very offensive for Kareena trying to get excitement and publicity based on her life. On a lighter note Saif said he was a little upset that his character was called Saifee as he could have had a cooler name. Surprisingly Kareena's we beau Shahid Kapoor hasn't opened his mouth on the issue so far.

Saif into hard-core partying in Kareena's absence

In Bollywood a producer is always portrayed as an uncle scrooge who is holding onto every penny by his teeth, but the director of Love Aaj Kal begs to differ. Imtiaz Ali is one happy director as he has all the good things to say about his peppy producer - Saif Ali Khan.

Raving about getting the much needed creative freedom in making Love Aaj Kal, Imtiaz notes, “Although Saif has reinvented his career as a producer with this film, he has never ever intervened in the making.”


As a matter of fact Saif did not intimidate the cast by throwing-off his weight as a producer; instead he tried to break the ice between the cast and crew, and even made the shy and reclusive Imtiaz comfy on the sets.

We hear the party went hand-in-hand with the shoot; the film has been shot at 3 different locations - San Fransisco, London and India. And those are the exact places Saif took his party to after wrapping up the shoot, the crew would go in for night long hard-core partying. Of course without Kareena Kapoor since she is not in the film.

Imtiaz excitedly confirms, “We would party all night and crash to bed the next morning and go off to sleep before flying off for a different location.”

Saif, Kareena's Vish list!

The hit Omkara jodi of actor Saif Ali Khan and director Vishal Bhardwaj are teaming up again, goes the current buzz in the industry.

The two are ready to work on a new project as soon as Vishal’s Kaminey, with Shahid Kapur and Priyanka Chopra , is released.

Apparently, a big production house has bought the copyright of Martin Scorsese’s 2002 American crime drama The Departed and has approached Vishal to direct it. Having directed dark gangster films like Omkara, Maqbool earlier, they have chosen Vishal to handle the desi Departed.

Saif, whose career underwent a major transformation with Omkara has expressed a keen desire to be a part of Vishal’s version of The Departed. He doesn’t mind playing the role of either of the protagonists, played by Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio in The Departed.

Saif’s eagerness to return to working with Vishal has been apparent to his friends for quite some time now. Every time the Kaminey trailer with the ‘Dhan te nan’ song plays, Saif slips into a retro mood. One of Saif’s close friends says, “Saif just loves the look of Kaminey. We feel he really regrets that he could not be a part of Kaminey, especially since Shahid’s role was initially offered to him. He was busy putting together Love Aaj Kal, his maiden production venture, at that time. Every time we notice him grooving to ‘Dhan te nan’s beats, he quickly shoots back, ‘Why would I want someone else’s song? I have my own track, ‘We twist’ (from Love Aaj Kal) in the charts.”

Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan have reportedly shot an aesthetic love-making sequence in Karan Johar’s Qurbaan that involves more physical exposure and intimacy than perhaps the actress’ censorship instincts allow.

Now, she intends asking director Rensil D’Silva to delete one scene from that sequence in which her bare back is visible.

There is a point beyond which Kareena won’t go for any filmmaker. And ever since Saif and she filmed the sequence, she has been wondering what both sets of parents might think on seeing in. “We are actors and can’t be coy after accepting a film on a bold subject like Qurbaan. I’ve done kissing scenes earlier. But the love-making scene is explicit by my yardstick. It comes at a crucial stage in the narration. And Saif made sure I was comfortable,” said the actress.

Kareena is a favourite of both, the producer and director, and it’s possible that Karan and Rensil might listen to her and have the bare back scene removed. The audience will be the loser. Ah well, there’s always Kambakkth Ishq in case you want to know what Kareena’s back looks like!
